Shipping different items, even though in a not regular basis, is part of people’s lives whether personal or business in nature.  One way or another, we need to send gifts, documents and other goods to our family, friends, relatives or we need to ship products to our customers. Accordingly, the demand for shipping supplies that would provide utmost convenient and safe shipment is soaring tremendously. Just what supplies are needed to have your goods delivered in their destinations?

Shipping boxes
First thing that your item needs is a container. The most common and the most inexpensive of which is a shipping box. It comes in a variety of shape and sizes, which can be small enough to hold a ring and very large boxes that can support heavy equipment. Strength of the boxes also varies depending on the load you need to ship. For ordinary packages, a single wall corrugated shipping box might serve your purpose. If you need to transport fragile items, you need a double wall box and for your heavy items, you can rely on the triple wall corrugated boxes. Most boxes available on the market conform to the standard set by shipping couriers, but non-standard ones are also accepted as long as they measure up to weight and size restrictions.

Mailing Tubes
If you’re sending important documents, posters, calendars or blueprints and you deem a shipping box or a mailing envelope will not be enough a protection, you can choose an alternative in a mailing tube. It’s solid and sturdy and prevents documents from creasing.

Cushion and Void filler
There are times when you need to ship fragile items that need more protection other than the double wall of your box. Different materials are available that serve the cushioning purpose for your things. Bubble wrap is a transparent plastic packaging product made up of small circles of air bubbles used to provide extra cushion for fragile items and also to fill empty spaces inside your box when shipping. When shipping large household items like furniture and appliances, blankets and pads are the most common supplies that also provide cushion and extra protection from dirt, dust, oil and water. For less delicate shipment, packing papers are the most practical way of filling extra spaces inside the box as well as providing cushioning service.

Packing Tape
Next thing you need is a sealer for your box; the packing tape. Don’t get too easy on these tapes because using the wrong one on your box might lead to inconveniences. There are different kinds of tape that are designed for various applications and types of surface. There could be instances where even if you use generous amount, the tape would somehow lose its tack, making loose sealing on your box.

Other Accessories
Other optional materials are also available in the market to help you out in shipping. Shipping labels provide a means of writing a clear and correct label containing the necessary information of your shipment. It has adhesive tape for easy sticking in your box. Corner boards and strapping provide additional protection and stability for your shipment package.
